Thanksgiving Dinner and Stivale wine – an event!!! The family all start to trickle in and strike up conversations with family not seen for a while. About 15 of us! Catching up on what’s new and what’s old.  Lots of mini conversations. Laughter, hugs and thanksgiving prayer.  

Stivale has a medium dark ruby color and promises bold flavors and a strong aroma. It is an intense flavor on your palate. There is a taste of red apple peel and raspberry with a bit of a toasty oak underneath. The word Negroamaro means black and bitter but the wine has a medium weight in the mouth. It is nicely balanced and not bitter. You may even get a taste of vanilla and tart baked cherry flavors.

Upon tasting this wine, we discovered that the tastes were not overwhelming or bitter. We tasted the raspberry and red apple peal and also the cherry flavors and vanilla flavors. The wine did pai nicely with our Thanksgiving dinner. And even with all the different foods we were tasting on that day, each food item brought out a different flavor in the Stivale wine.

For our get together at Thanksgiving, the guys do not cook, but donate money for the food. My mother, sister and I cook the items. We all chip in setting the table, cleaning the dishes and serving desserts

We call those punch wines. Those wines are rushed and each year taste the same as the previous. Because our wines are allowed to absorb the minerals in the dirt, the weather that affects them and the grapes all make a difference in each vintage. So each year of that wine is different but with the same base.
